If your child scored Did Not Meet Grade Level on the Grade 3 reading STAAR, Texas will give your family up to $400 for reading tutoring — and you choose the tutor. Studyville is an approved provider, and our literacy tutoring is delivered virtually to families anywhere in Texas.

A “not sure” is common — most families haven’t looked up a STAAR reading score in months. Your child’s campus or district parent portal will have it, and the TEA portal will confirm eligibility the moment you create an account. We’re also happy to walk you through it on the phone.
The PASS grant is currently limited to students who scored “Did Not Meet Grade Level” on the spring 2026 Grade 3 reading STAAR. If that’s not your child, you can still work with Studyville directly — our reading tutoring is open to any K–12 family in Texas, and we’ll tell you honestly whether we think your student needs it.
PASS stands for Parent Access to Supplemental Supports. It’s a Texas Education Agency program that puts up to $400 directly in the hands of families whose third grader didn’t reach grade level in reading — so the parent, not the school, decides who does the tutoring.
That’s an unusual amount of control, and it’s worth using well. The funds are restricted to reading tutoring, and they can be spent with in-person tutoring companies, virtual tutoring providers, or designated Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) tutors registered in the PASS system.
